I was automatically placed in the textile group because of the online classes.

My understanding of this topic is to put together something that can be used (in other words, to take something that was originally discarded and transform it by weaving it).

1. Keynote: the development of your material awareness throughout the this project aims to explore the ramifications of mending for this project you will you will design a new life to to a redundant object
2.  Material Differences: Wool, cotton thread, cloth, locking needles, paper clips, thumbtacks, flowers, vegetables, peels...
3. Different version, different stitching methods (design, technology)


Sketchbook(Inspiration 1)

Because of her old age, my grandmother always forgets to take her environmental bags when she goes to the supermarket, so she often buys plastic bags in the supermarket and she was too thrifty to throw them away, they piled up around the house. This time I want to try this kind of plastic bag for textile transformation.

1. Types of plastic bags (boxes) : color, material, transparency, durability
2. What was it used to hold: vegetables? Meat? Or fruit...
3. Research and design drawings

T his week I've been experimenting with different prototypes and trials to test the feasibility of my design plans. Before doing this I did some drawing on the computer and made two design schematics. This one was inspired by the poem ' The Butterfly Hiding from the Rain ' by Lin Ping. The poem describes a butterfly that gets lost and enters the poet's window when a rainstorm is coming. I combined the butterfly with traditional Chinese costume patterns to create my first design, 'Butterfly Labyrinth', and put Lin Ping's poetry on the back of the bag. For the materials test I made a specimen of the butterfly  and after the specimen had dried  I found that the butterfly's wings were too fragile  to be used as a material for my work. The inspiration for this image came from the food I buy every day  and I used a combination of fish scales  and kale to make this design.
